General Description:

The Health & Safety Manager is to provide direction and leadership on all safety matters concerning company operations. As we are a construction company that often has projects with night work, the Health & Safety Manager will be expected to work nights periodically to conduct safety audits of these projects.

Essential Duties:

•Plan and develop safety policies and procedures in compliance with Federal OSHA, Cal-OSHA, and local Highway Construction standards

•Focus on accident prevention through the development, coordination, and implementation of a comprehensive safety program

•Train and develop Project Managers, Superintendents, and Foremen to ensure implementation of health and safety requirements and policies

•Travel to and inspect job sites regularly, ensuring compliance with regulatory health and safety standards and company safety policies

•Coordinate and participate in regulatory agency inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations

•Monitor and track outstanding deficiencies to resolution

•Monitor the company’s Worker’s Compensation, General Liability, and Auto Insurance; provide recommendations to help reduce premiums

•Maintain a list of hazardous materials and chemicals on site, and all associated regulated documents as required

Work Experience: Must have 5 or more years as a Safety Manager/Officer in Highway/Road Construction administering safety programs and audits of construction job sites.


Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field; Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), and/or Certified Safety Professional (CSP)

•Strong organization, communication, and writing skills

•Ability to work overnight as business dictates

•Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and Outlook

•Experience with HCSS and Spectrum preferredThis is an exempt position offered at a competitive salary.
