Description : Directs, manages, plans and administers the operational and administrative activities associated with the running of the Data Analysis Section. May direct the Data Administration staff in the analysis and design of data models and logical data bases at the data element level consistent with the corporate architectural models. Responsible for the development of logical data base designs across multiple computing environments (e.g., host based, client server, distributed systems). Consults with data base administration and client areas in the transformation of business requirements into relational data base definitions and for resolving questions during the translation to a physical data base design. Responsible for the establishment of data element naming and description standards and conventions. Ensures that data dictionaries are maintained across multiple systems environments including Web and e-commerce. Provides comprehensive consulting to client and IT management and staff in the identification and resolution of information flow and content issues. Manages multiple projects, professional and technical staff, and other related activities of the area. Skills DAta Modeling and ddl generation: Erwin Data Modeling Methodologies: Relational & Dimensional Databases: DB2 and/or Oracle a must. Teradata a plus SQL: DB2 and/or Oracle a must. Teradata a plus Database Access: Toad Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively. Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Medical/insurance background/knowledge a plus. Education Advanced degree in Computer Science or a related discipline and at least six, typically eight or more years experience in all phases of data modeling, data warehousing, data mining, data entity analysis, logical data base design and relational data base definition, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Requires in-depth knowledge of data analysis/data base technologies and tools, a broad knowledge of system and technology alternatives, excellent communication skills, analytical ability, strong judgment and management skills, and the ability to work effectively with clients and IT managers.
