Our group is seeking a senior level mainframe engineer/developer to provide expert knowledge in mainframe technologies for software development. Emphasis of the position is be a senior level contributor in several key technologies The candidate is expected to perform tasks such as;  analysis of current and future application and infrastructure requirements, coding and testing of mainframe software components, vendor software evaluation, design consulting and significant performance engineering and testing. 


The successful candidate must be able to develop scalable and creative technical solutions in close collaboration with application and architecture teams. Working with a geographically dispersed team, this individual will complete software development projects by the agreed upon target date with the highest level of quality, using appropriate development methodologies.
It will be expected that the person will write clear and concise documentation for all phases of the assigned projects.

This role of this position is to create or enhance complex infrastructure and mainframe engineering operations and requires skills beyond traditional application development


The selected candidate will possess the following skills:
10 or more years technical and analytical experience as a engineer/developer with demonstrated achievements in mainframe systems technologies is a firm requirement. This includes in-depth experience working with sophisticated files, file layouts, and databases with VSAM, DB2, CICS, Cobol, JCL, and performance engineering across these disciplines.  


Preference is to have experience in one or more of the following: Advanced CICS topics (Coupling Facility Data Tables, MVS Data Spaces (UMT/CMT), Channels and Containers, SMF, CPSM, Dynamic Transaction Routing, Performance Tuning expertise, and significant expertise in capacity planning topics)


Should have some experience in MQ Series on z/OS (Clusters, Shared Queue Groups, Security, Performance considerations, and integration with non-mainframe Queue Managers)


Additionally a strong background in VSAM is desired: (Share options, Catalog Management, Buffer Pool optimization techniques, etc).

Optional, but nice to have:
Experience or demonstrable knowledge in replication technologies (QREP or RRDF) is a plus.


Additional understanding or experience using RLS, CAFC, and VSHARE with VSAM files is preferred.


CICS Web Services internals


Assembler coding skills


Configuration Management with CICS-CM


Infrastructure/Architecture design experience


z/OS Workload Management (WLM) features and services experience


Any experience in the securities or a related industry - brokerage experience preferred
