Role:Senior Systems Administrator I - Mainframe
Location:Jacksonville,FL
Primary Activities and Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, and support mainframe database management system software; specifically DB2 and assist on maintenance and support of IMS system software.Install, validate, test, and maintain mainframe DBMS tools and utilities from various vendors which are used by the DBA staff.
  • Test size and estimate storage requirements and communicate installs across impacted teams.
  • Collaborate with teams across the organization to determine most efficient and cost effective solutions to fit modernization strategy.
  • Collaborate with peers on technical information for all aspects of and core Database Management System (DBMS) technologies and associated tools and utilities.
  • Interact with vendors to open and resolve issues related to database and associated tools and help drive/exploit product enhancements.
  • Support database administrators to ensure tools function properly, deliver solutions to applications developers, and work closely with vendors to implement and maintain technology solutions.
  • Analyze cross platforms processing to determine root causes of issues encountered and to make recommendations for methods to eliminate problems and improve service reliability.
  • Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager.
Qualification:
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited institution required in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Software Engineering, Information Systems/Technology or related major field of study.
  • 5 or more years of experience required in systems administration (specifically Mainframe database systems).
  • Equivalent Minimum QualificationsHigh School diploma/GED or Associates degree from an accredited institution required in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Systems/Technology or related major field of study.
  • 10 or more years of experience required in Information Systems (specifically Mainframe database systems).OrMasters degree from an accredited institution required in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Systems/Technology or related major field of study.
  • 3 or more years of experience required in Information Systems (specifically Mainframe database systems).
  • Preferred Qualifications In addition to meeting the above qualifications, any of the following are preferred:Bachelors degree from an accredited institution required in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Systems/Technology or related major field of study.
  • 10 or more years of experience in Mainframe Database Systems.
  • Experience working with vendors on support and rollout of technical solutions (opening problem tickets, collaborating on fixes, etc.)Knowledge and SkillsKnowledge of the installation and maintenance of IMS and DB2 including the use of System Modification Program/Extended (SMP/E)Knowledge of the installation process for BMC tools and utilities for DB2 and IMSKnowledge of the installation process for CA tools for DB2 and IMSKnowledge of the installation process for Transparent Gateway for Mainframe based DB2 (TG4DB2) and Access Manager for CICS (AM4CICS)Knowledge of the installation process for IBM ToolsDB2 and IMS infrastructure support skills
  • Written and oral communication skillsProcess management skills
  • Ability to write programs using languages such as COmmon Business Oriented Language (COBOL), RE structured eXtended eXecution (REXX) language, Job Control Language (JCL), and Command List (CLIST)
  • Ability to communicate technical information in all aspects of 3rd party tools and the core DBMS technologiesKnowledge of Unix System ServicesMicrosoft Office skills
