This role will analyze the performance of the mainframe operating systems and resources; develops, recommends and implements plans for mainframe adjustments to eliminate current processing difficulties and ensure adequate response times. Participates in the selection of, tests, installs, and implements new mainframe hardware and software. Develops detailed implementation plan and testing procedures for new mainframe hardware and software; reviews and documents test results; recommends changes as required. Resolves mainframe-related discrepancies; ensures continuous availability of mainframe resources. Provides technical support to ETG personnel. Assists in the training of new Mainframe Engineers by demonstrating and explaining operating programs, computer hardware, programming languages, procedures, etc.
Required:
â?¢ 4+ years of application programming.
â?¢ 3+ years in software engineering & administration.
â?¢ Experience with mainframe operating & sub-systems (z/OS, CICS, DB2, etc.)
â?¢ Advanced knowledge of mainframe communication (VTAM, TCP/IP, etc.).
Preferred:
â?¢ Bachelorâ??s degree in Computer Science or relevant discipline.
