Sr. Database Engineer 

You will build, maintain, optimize, and scale all aspects of our database systems, while working closely with Development, Operations and Infra teams. You will be a point of escalation, and do everything in your power to ensure fast, reliable, and consistent databases. The position requires an ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment with a high standard for quality, an eagerness to learn new technologies, and calm and focus under pressure. What you bring to the role:

1. Significant experience managing complex production database


2. systems, preferably at a large consumer-facing Internet site


3. Expert with Oracle and Prostgres: tuning, query optimization, replication, storage engines, monitoring, capacity planning, backup, HA, etc


4. Deep knowledge of Oracle RAC, Postgres loadbalancing and HA a plus


5. Strong Linux/UNIX administration skills, skills in automation tools such as Puppet and Chef a plus


6. Understanding of best practices well enough to know when to and not to follow them


7. Proficiency in a scripting language of your choice (shell, Perl, Python, Ruby, etc) for monitoring and custom automation


8. Experience with NoSQL systems like Mongo, Cassandra or Hadoop is a plus


9. Sense of humor, a positive attitude, passion to learn and pick up new technologies, passion for online commerce and retail
