Job description

Role :- SQL Server (DBA) Database Administrator

JOB SUMMARY

  • The Senior DBA position will be responsible for maintaining the companyâ??s database systems (primarily MS SQL Server) including back-up, performance tuning, capacity planning, monitoring critical events and documentation.
  • Senior Database Administrator ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (RESPONSIBILITIES)
  • Sets up and maintains database infrastructure for the companyâ??s BI, Data Warehouse, and analytics needs.
  • Creates and manages multiple databases and assists in capacity planning.
  • Monitors, maintains database systems and troubleshoots problems that may arise.
  • Maintains data integrity and security (manage roles and permissions of database users).
  • Uses tools like SQL Profiler for database tuning. Generates traces, execution plans, identifies performance issues, deadlocks/contention and resolves them.
  • Develops strategies and implements solutions for managing back-ups, restoration and replication.
  • Creates and manages constraints and indexes.
  • Supports software developers with database operations including the development of complex SQL, tuning of DML and the creation of stored procedures.
  • Proactive housekeeping/archiving and shrinking of databases.
  • Manages production, QA and development database environments.
  • Creates detailed documentation including diagrams of database infrastructure.
  • Learns relevant business processes and understands the data flow, criticality and dependencies.
  • Effectively coordinates and communicates with all the stakeholders (internal teams and clients).

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge/Skill/Ability

  • Sound knowledge of RDBMS concepts, database architecture and SQL/T-SQL.
  • Ability to build/manage database infrastructure such as report, archive, and data warehouse structures with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in preparation of reports and analysis of information.
  • Strong emphasis on tuning techniques for both data and queryâ??s.
  • Implement information Security best practices in all database environments
  • Ability to overcome challenges with process re-engineering and/or technology solutions.
  • Able to assist in multiple projects simultaneously.

Equivalent Education/Experience

  • Bachelorâ??s Degree preferred.
  • 5+ yearsâ?? experience with multiple versions of SQL Server in an enterprise environment.
  • Extensive experience writing T-SQL and stored procedures and query tuning on transactional systems.
  • Experienced in SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS)
  • Experienced in ETL (Extract-Transform-Load) development / data integration.
  • Experience in SQL Server Clustering and HA technologies including mirroring, log shipping, failover cluster and various replication technologies would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of other databases like Oracle, and In-memory databases.
  • Innovative approach to work, constantly looking for upgrading the system to more efficient and effective new technologies.
