Summary:

  • Responsible for effective installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of various database systems and related infrastructure.
  • Participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure and ensures that database systems and related procedures and processes adhere to organizational values.
  • Youll use the best tools for the job, whether modern and revolutionary or time tested and proven, to deliver elegant, scalable solutions that meet business and technical needs.
  • Peer review of solutions and implementations is expected.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • The basics Strong Skills in the following DB systems: oDB2oPostgresSQL Database troubleshooting, performance tuning and query optimization
  • Experienced setting up monitoring / alarming for production DB environments
  • Some experience with NoSQL technologies like DynamoDB , Redis, MongoDB or Cassandra
  • ETL experience in managing data workflow jobs
  • Experienced with linux system administration, monitoring and analysis
  • Good understanding of distributed computing and database environments
  • Maintains patient level data to which the position may have access, directly or indirectly, in a confidential and secure manner consistent with client policies and federal and state laws (i.e., HIPAA, SAMSA, state data destruction laws).
  • Demonstrates the highest level of integrity in working with sensitive data or protected health information.
  • Upon becoming aware of a data incident or a suspected data breach, the person filling this position is expected to immediately report such incident to the Privacy Officer or Information Security Officer.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Some experience with query analyzers and query tuning / slow query optimization etc.
  • Networking (DNS, TCP/IP) Exposure to Virtualization (VMware, Xen, Hypervisor)
  • Prior working experience with AWS - any or all of EC2, S3, EBS, ELB, RDS, Dynamo DB, EMR
  • Prior working experience with DevOps tools any or all of Docker, Jenkins, Airflow, Rancher, Artifactory
  • Exposure to security concepts / best practices
  • Expertise with IPsec, VPN, Load Balancing, Iperf, MTR, Routing Protocols, SSH, Network Monitoring / Troubleshooting tools
  • Experience BS/BA degree in Information Technology, Computer Science required
  • Minimum 5 years functional experience with database administration
  • Experience with Iterative development methodology and cloud based technology (AWS), Devops methodologies and toolchain (Continuous Integration, delivery and deployment)
  • Strong technical data analysis skills, independent problem solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, desire to work within the team.
  • Self-starter who is excited about learning new technology
  • Open to working non-standard hours
