Role: Manufacturing Engineer IV Location: Houston,TX Responsibilities: Establishes continuous improvement goals and executes action plans Utilizes proven lean manufacturing abilities to identify opportunities for cost reduction, increased quality, work flow improvements, estimating, project analysis, technology development and core manufacturing skill set. Able to supervise others and providing mentoring to junior engineers, technicians and support staff Supports DOE, 8D, FMEA, 6 Sigma and DFP analysis and implementation of Kaizen activities Works with Design Engineers to revise, and sustain HVAC product designs, utilizing knowledge of mechanical engineering principles; provide manufacturing technical resource to Design Project teams Develop and manage project schedules related to existing product launches or design modifications. Document product designs by preparing bills of materials, cost analyses, drawings, and engineering change requests. Assist in redesigning internal components to improve overall long term system quality, improve efficiency and reduce cost. Develop engineering solutions to product related issues through problem solving and root cause analysis techniques. Participate on cross functional teams to launch product modifications, resolve issues, and support product improvements. Coordinate project work internally with the department and externally with other departments to ensure on-time completion of projects within budget. Develop suppliers for manufacturing equipment, develop key suppliers, create an environment of continuous improvement in equipment UPTIME, EFFICIENCY & QUALITY Create preventive maintenance that effectively maintains the equipment in optimal form without the need for short cutting the quality or machine capability Perform other job duties as required by supervisor/manager Qualifications: Bachelors Degree: BS in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Electrical Engineering Minimum of 3 years related work experience (New graduates are welcome to apply) Comprehensive understanding and knowledge of manufacturing engineering theory, processes, and practice. A minimum of 1-5 years of experience with product design in assembly HVAC environment preferred, or the automotive, appliance industry Experience with engineering change processes Knowledge of specifications and standards used in the HVAC industry (preferred). Software skills including Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Powerpoint, AutoCAD, Mapics Line balanding and time studies experience Effective analytical and problem-solving skills Effective communication skills - both oral and written Effective project management skills. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with teams. Lean manufacturing (e.g., Kaizan, value stream mapping, Kanban, demand flow technology Manufacturing equipment experience in stamping, tooling, assembly and/or controls Six Sigma certification preferred
