Role: Cognos Applications Developer Location: Itasca,IL Overview: Responsible for development in Cognos Business Intelligence environment and all aspects of Enterprise Data Warehouse and EBS reporting. Participate in Requirements Definitions, solution development, and implementation phases of data warehouse and reporting projects. Responsibilities: Provide expertise with Cognos Studios: Report Studio, Business Insight, BI Advanced, Query, Analysis and Event Studios. Create and maintain Cognos Specifications and process documentation to product the required reporting and analytic deliverables. Aid in maintaining report specs and IBM Cognos models within a source control system to ensure proper check-in/checkout procedures. Implement Cognos Framework Manager. Help support DW members with GDW support. Create key KPI Dashboards for various internal business units. Qualifications: Education: Degree in MIS or CS (preferred but not required) 2+ years of writing complex SQL queries 2+ years of understanding DB and Datawarehouse concepts Work Experience: 2-5 years implementing enterprise scale reporting using Cognos BI 2-5 Years of Report Studio development Cognos TM1 (preferred but not required) SQL Server/Oracle view and stored procedure development Abilities/Skills: Good written and verbal communication skills Able to translate non-technical discussions into technical documents Knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL, Kimball Methodology of DW, Cognos 10.2.1 and above studios Able to use Explain Plans to tune SQL Knowledge of Cognos Framework Manager Strong Cognos report writer who has a minimum of Cognos 10.1 and above Must have had experience in drill down, prompts, dashboards, and a strong working knowledge of PL/SQL and SQL Able to incorporate multiple data sources into a single report is also ideal Query tuning will also be important
