This position is mostly maintenance work. Bug Fixes and regular maintenance of the system. They currently have one production system running on Amazon Cloud which this person will be maintaining. They are also currently building out another system that this role will also be supporting once they complete the build.

Description:

Database Administrator (DBA)

This consultant will be part of a growing production support team responsible for monitoring, tuning and supporting databases hosted in-house remotely and on the cloud including both AWS and Azure solutions.

Responsibilities include:
Work as part of a database team with a focus on production support
Review designs, offer alternatives and implement changes to schemas
Monitor systems for availability, fail-over and replication errors
Analyze, monitor and tune databases for optimal efficiency
Review code, run explain plans, tune queries
Restore and recover corrupted databases
Ability to work on-call and after hours/weekend support
Analyze tables, add indexes, and create partitions
Implement security (create users, apply certificates, update registries)
Work with minimal DBA tools/products.
Provide support for testing effort, including developing scripts to load and archive test data

We are looking for candidates with the following MUST-HAVE experience and skills:
3+yrs Oracle hands-on experience including Oracle 11g or higher
Certifications will not be substituted for experience
2+yrs experience with SQL and PL/SQL including developing store procedures, packages, triggers, etc.
2+yrs working in a production environment
Experience in installing, patching and upgrading Oracle 11g database environments
Proven ability to troubleshoot slow or long-running queries
Proficient in using Oracle Enterprise Manager
Must be flexible to work with individual customer/developer styles
Experience working with Oracle on Windows Operating System
Experience with backups and/or archiving
Open-minded to questions, alternatives and criticism
Create and maintain documentation and procedures
Practice with Resource Control Software – ex: Perforce, GitHub, Tortoise, Subversion, etc.
Solid grasp of Software Development LifeCycle (SDLC), Configuration and Release Management and Integration


Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with high speed storage devices such as SSDs.
Programming or Shell Language (e.g., Java, C++, C#, VB, Perl, ksh, tcsh)
Cloud experience with AWS or Azure
Oracle 12c experience
Data Archiving or Warehouse experience
Experience in an Agile environment
