This individual is accountable for designing Data Warehouse models and building the physical ETL processes to populate them using Pentaho Data Integration (PDI). The developer is responsible for creating functional ETL routines and testing their reliability to ensure they comply with business requirements. When applicable the developer may also provision and develop towards the BI solution. The developer works closely with the Product Manager/architect to resolve any ambiguity in specifications before actual coding begins. Ingenuity and flexibility is expected. Essential Functions The following duty statements are illustrative of essential functions of the job and do not include other non-essential or marginal duties that may be required: Solid understanding of Data Warehousing architecture, concepts, and applications. Will work with the business analysts, customers and team members to obtain and define user information needs, performance requirements, project limitations and capabilities. Analyze, design, construct, and automate efficient ETL processes. Adept at creating dynamic ETL processes to handle varied/changing sources into conformed Data Warehouse models. Uses standard concepts, best practices and procedures to define data mappings, unit test mappings, and data governance as defined by the architect. Develops and directs ETL systems testing and validation procedures to complete unit-, integration- and model office testing. Performs unit testing of all ETL modifications to ensure accuracy. Prepares and maintains technical documentation recording all changes made as they move through the change management process. Leverages industry established ETL documentation practices. Communicates design and development issues and problem resolution through voice mail, e-mail, collaboration software, or in person as appropriate. Provisions data into the metadata and/or in-memory layer of the Business Intelligence solution where applicable. Keeps updated on industry trends and technology advances. Performs other duties as assigned. Interpersonal Competencies Strong verbal and written communication skills.
