Summary:
The Senior Network Engineer will be report
to the IT Director, Enterprise Infrastructure Architecture and will be
responsible for maintaining the integrity of the network infrastructure
(WAN/MAN/LAN) and network security irrespective of whether the
information technology is outsourced, in-house managed by business
units, or in-house managed by information technology departments. This
includes all domestic and international communications networks,
interaction between technologies and securing those assets.
The
Senior Network Engineer is to perform hands-on design and
implementation for networking and is anticipated to be an \"Everything
over IP\" subject matter expert. Responsibilities for this role include
implementing and maintaining network infrastructures, installing and
configuring network and digital phone (including VoIP) equipment,
perform network implementation, migration, test, and work with
outsourced partners to provide routine maintenance.
Job duties to include the following:
· Functions
as hands-on technical lead during a network security incident response
or network change request for both networking and communications
infrastructure (phone, fax, VoIP, cabling, routers, switches, etc.)
· Meet
with clients and management to help specify and negotiate network
security requirements; reviews current policies and procedures for
applicability, and system OS security patch levels, and ensures safe
transition of applications to production.
· Develops documentation to support ongoing network security systems operations, maintenance and specific problem resolution.
· Provide risk analysis for network vulnerabilities, incidents and change requests
· Develops and maintains technology to automate network monitoring
· Create, maintain, and document network security baselines
· Evaluate
and recommend secure remote network configurations. Function as a
liaison between managed vendors, developing and tracking all projects
within the scope of networking and communications infrastructure
· Other duties may be assigned.
Job requirements to include the following:
· Prefer advanced degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
· Minimum of five years of successful WAN/LAN/networking experience.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills, excellent facilitation skills, and the ability to lead brainstorming sessions
· Incumbent
must also be able to communicate the progress of projects to Senior
Management and be able to make presentations to large audiences.
· Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred
· International travel will be required.
· Good analytical and problem solving skills as well as basic mathematical skills.
· Must have knowledge of insurance, business processes, and business functions.
· The
incumbent must be an independent worker who demonstrates expert
knowledge of the application of information technology to the business
processes of the company.
· Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) required
· Two or more of the following certifications preferrede:
o Cisco Certified Design Professional (CCDP)
o Microsoft Certified Information Technology Professional (MCITP): Enterprise Administrator
o VCP5-DV VMware Certified Professional â?? Datacenter Virtualization
