The Advanced Analytics and Customer API team seeks to add a Hadoop & NoSQL Architect to its a high-performing team that is leading the retail industry in its development of data-driven, real-time personalization/marketing capabilities.

 Together, we’re building customer insight and personalization strategies that are enabled using the massive computational and storage power of our own large Hadoop cluster. With your mathematical, statistical and software development disciplines, you will be ideally suited to provide both thought-leadership and hands-on development of complex analytical/statistical algorithms combining Hive, Pig, MapReduce, and User Defined Functions (UDFs). These algorithms and methods will be focused extensively in the areas of creating a single view of the customer across all channels, brands, and devices and utilization of deep customer interaction history to create a rich psychographic profile that powers the most compelling personalization strategies in omni-channel retail.

In addition to working extensively with Hadoop, you will use a variety of additional cutting-edge technologies – including Cassandra, Couchbase, Kafka, Storm, Solr, Node, and Spark – to enable high-volume, low latency API platform that makes our customer insights actionable. This API platform will be utilized by a variety of operational systems in real-time to create a customer experience that is more consistent, personalized, contextual and relevant across all channels, brands and devices.

Candidates must exhibit excellent interpersonal and communication skills, must possess a high degree of professionalism and customer service, and must have demonstrated a long running passion and intrinsic motivation for learning new technologies and extracting business value from them. This position will require oversight of production support responsibilities lead by other teams, but is to be principally focused on leading the development efforts described above.

Responsibilities Include

• Provide technical leadership in the development of the systems architecture and roadmap.


• Work effectively with key business sponsors and strategy advisors in the creation of the next generation analytical and operational CRM platform.


• Development solutions using Hadoop framework (MapReduce, Pig, Hive, UDF, Spark); must be able to lead the efforts of others while also providing individual contributions in the form of hands-on design and development.


• Adhere to principles of Test Driven Development (“TDD”).


• Assist with the management of the product backlog by provide timely and accurate story point estimates for new user stories.
