Education:  Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field; Graduate Degree strongly preferred. 

Experience:



  • A minimum of 8 years of related experience

  • Experience with high volumes of transactional data in an insurance or financial services environment

  • Strong knowledge of data services; data governance; and data security

  • Experience in SQL and query optimization; particularly with SQL Server

  • Understanding of data modeling concepts such as use of conceptual, logical and physical data models

  • Experience in data movement analysis/validation and performance/tuning

  • Understands data management, data design, and physical data design implications

  • Experience with testing of data requirements for the movement, synchronization, replication and validation of data which includes knowledge of and practical experience with the data, databases, extract transform load (ETL) methods and technologies, workflows and components related to Business Architecture and applications

  • Knowledge of data architecture concepts such as OLTP and OLAP systems, operational data stores, data warehouses, data marts, staging databases and data servicing layers; experience in designing these data architectures

  • Experience/Knowledge of Data Scrubbing

  • Ability to create, maintain, and present technical information to different audiences and levels

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and negotiation skills

Skills/Responsibilities: 

General Responsibilities



  • Operate as a key player on a cross functional data team which includes database administrator(s) and developers.

  • Within the solution development lifecycle, participate in data architecture, analysis and design; provide guidance and oversight reviews of data architecture; build and refine data solutions in a complex distributed database environment; and lead the areas of data migration from legacy systems

  • Lead the data deliverable portion of projects, working with project management and IT management to plan tasks and facilitate the team

  • Responsible for consistent, available, and scalable usage of data for analytical, transactional and cross-product systems


Data Design and Management



  • Create high-level comprehensive data designs that address the needs of key stakeholders from the business, solution delivery and operations areas

  • Work with peers to conduct Data Architecture Reviews for a broad set of projects

  • Review and provide input into key aspects of the business case, functional & non-functional requirements, and work effort for specific projects

  • Perform gap analysis between planned data architecture functions and already established data architecture functions to assess impact and look for opportunities for improvement


Data Leadership



  • Understand Preferred Mutual’s data at a high level to determine the best ways of storing and managing the data in a standardized manner

  • Provide requirements that drive strategic direction for business, application, information, and technology architectures

  • Partner with applications and infrastructure teams in support of solution definition and development

  • Provide documentation of the logical and physical models
