Job Description JOB TITLE: Business Systems Analyst Basic Function: Please note that this is a contract opportunity. This position will work with business partners within one business functional area of the organization serving as a liaison between the IT organization and the business unit to understand and analyze business functions, processes and operations opportunities to automate and to develop business requirement artifacts focused on the delivery of IT solutions and systems to meet the business needs. This will include the review and documentation of current system capabilities, workflow, and limitations and may include execution and management of necessary system enhancements and/or new systems. Essential Duties: �¢?�¢ Works with subject matter experts and business leaders to gather and document business and technical requirements including the �¢??As Is�¢?� and �¢??To Be�¢?� workflows �¢?�¢ Collaborates with business units/subject matter experts and software programmers to develop business requirements, system configuration documents, detailed functional specifications, test cases, test plans, and implementation documents to support the enhancement of existing enterprise systems and the implementation of new technology. �¢?�¢ Translates high level business requirements into functional specifications for the IT organization and manages changes to such specifications �¢?�¢ Assists in the business process redesign and documentation as needed for new technology �¢?�¢ Recommend improvements to business processes and system configurations based on organizational and departmental needs, understand the impact of those changes, and communicate them accordingly �¢?�¢ Develops plans, schedules and estimates of work to be completed �¢?�¢ Coordinates with IT organization, third party partners, and the business to develop, deliver, and support acceptable solutions for the business �¢?�¢ Negotiates agreements and commitments by facilitating communication between business unit(s) and IT from initial requirements through requirements sign-off �¢?�¢ Educates the IT organization on the direction of the business �¢?�¢ Represents and relays IT standards to the business �¢?�¢ Develops test cases, test scenarios, and test plans to support business requirements �¢?�¢ Identify and/or implement changes, modifications, monitoring, and testing according to approved business requirements �¢?�¢ Tests, maintains, and monitors computer programs and systems, including coordinating the installation of computer programs and systems �¢?�¢ Provides training to end users for systems modifications or new systems Soft Skills: �¢?�¢ Ability to prepare business requirements, functional and non-functional specifications �¢?�¢ Be able to facilitate meetings with specific goals, keeping people on track, with the outcome of having concrete next steps, objectives and timelines, deliverables, etc. �¢?�¢ Highly analytical with a natural curiosity about data and the ability to consume and process large amounts of information �¢?�¢ Exceptional problem solving, analytical, and project management skills �¢?�¢ Ability to cultivate an understanding of what the business is trying to achieve while working with a standard technology stack to define effective and efficient solutions �¢?�¢ Strong business acumen to quickly learn new business processes and understand how IT needs to support the business in achieving revenue and profit goals and/or business process improvement goals �¢?�¢ Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to summarize and present findings or challenges to all levels of staff and management �¢?�¢ Capacity to build collaborative relationships and work effectively with key stakeholders �¢?�¢ Ability to work in decentralized team and communicate using virtual communications tools (phone, conferencing, web meetings) �¢?�¢ Capability to manage change within the environment �¢?�¢ Stays current with changes in technology as well as changes within the Corporation �¢?�¢ Ability to work independently with minimum guidance and be a self-starter; takes actions to achieve goals; proactive Technical Skills: �¢?�¢ Knowledge of computer programming and systems analysis and design principles and practices �¢?�¢ Possesses an understanding of both integration technology as well as knowledge of web development technologies such as vb.net, HTML, JavaScript, Visual Studio, etc. �¢?�¢ Web-based application requirements gathering and implementation experience �¢?�¢ Possesses an understanding of technological trends and uses this knowledge to bring solutions to business units supported to enhance the enterprise�¢??s competitive edge �¢?�¢ Ability to implement and apply a structured methodology for requirements specifications �¢?�¢ Ability to manage release cycles by analyzing requirements, obtaining prioritization from the business, constructing workflow charts, diagrams, and work instructions Education: Bachelor�¢??s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or other related field from four-year College or University. Experience: Five to 7 years�¢?? experience in business analysis with some experience in project management (estimating, scheduling, and reporting). Business Analyst Certification Preferred (IIBA, CCBA, CBAP, or PMIBA). Experience should include JAD facilitation, IT requirements gathering, and producing business analysis documentation. Experience with quality assurance and testing preferred. Experience with corporate systems (Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, etc.) preferred. Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred but not required.
