DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• This is a position in the Powertrain IS Enterprise Applications SAP Basis team reporting to the Manager of the SAP Powertrain Basis team located in Southfield, Michigan.
  
• The SAP Senior Basis Administrator in the SAP Competency Center provides a technical role across all SAP environments and in relationship with infrastructure team members.
  
• The Senior SAP Basis Administrator provides assistance to junior team members, and coordinates planning directly with SAP Basis Manager and Lead for IS infrastructure teams in the deployment of product and services defined by management for the organization.
  

• Provides technical support and administration of SAP products including SAP BI, SAP Net Weaver Suite, Solution Manager, SAP Plug-ins/Add ons, etc..
• Installs and maintains software including upgrades, database administration; applies kernel patches, OSS Notes, and Support Packages.
• Responsible for system troubleshooting, problem solving, application capacity planning, tuning, and application server load balancing
• Performs day to day monitoring and administration of SAP systems, including system refresh, as well as on call support.
• Works closely with SAP administrators to ensure complete and coordinated enhancements to enterprise-wide SAP R/3 implementation.
• Tracks SAP infrastructure and Basis developments and report status to internal and external teams.
• Manages incoming requests from functional teams and support desk.
• Participates within the Information Technology organization to establish standards for SAP infrastructure, operating system, data base administration, and Basis practices.
• Develop implementation planning and ROI cost analysis as it relates to deployment of SAP Basis projects and integration to product line SAP Basis integrated projects.
• Fulfill departmental requirements for reporting, personal development and information security.
• Provide administration with regards to Sarbanes Oxley Security and Operational compliance requirements and perform technical reviews for the SAP landscape.

• Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS or related field or equivalent experience.

• 5+ years of hands-on SAP experience supporting business systems on Unix and Microsoft platforms providing infrastructure/basis support.

• Full SAP Life Cycle implementations in a multi-landscape environment (Production and Project).
• SAP product installation, BC configuration, and upgrades (including: Upgrade from 4.6C to ECC 5.0 or 6.0) including add-on software packages.
• Knowledge of SAP system copy and refresh methodologies.
• Applying support packages and other patches/OSS Notes.
• SAP technical instance landscape design.
• Oracle database and UNIX knowledge.
• Operations expertise in SAP systems management including Netweaver implementations, technologies and common support issues.Infrastructure terminology, IT strategy and operations.
• High availability and failover environments.to rage consolidation/SAN.
• SAP Security relative to Single Sign On (SSO) for R3, BI and Portal implementations.
• Correction and Transport System (TMS) CHARM.
• Knowledge of using Solution Manager.
• Load and Performance Testing.
• Inter-system communication protocols and "middleware" configurations.
• Backup and recovery procedures disaster recovery.
• Microsoft SQL Server knowledge a plus
