  • The Unix Systems Administrator is responsible for supporting the Unix systems, security, interoperability, network administration, and all other activities that are necessary for the operation, including the daily monitoring of MDA Information Systems, Inc. and client systems.
  • This position is the first line of support for a small team of IT professionals and Software Developers and reports to the Manager of Information Technology.
  • This position requires a highly-motivated individual who can work in a fast-paced environment. Position located in the Ann Arbor, MI area (Ypsilanti).
  • To be qualified you must be a US Citizen and have the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance within 18 months.
  • ResponsibilitiesEssential Job FunctionsInstall, configure, and maintain Unix-based operating systems.
  • Analyze and resolve problems associated with the server hardware, storage, network, and applicationsInstall and administer security controlsMonitor and manage system resource utilization and planningSupport configuration management processes and proceduresPerform OS and network performance tuningSupport approved OS and software upgradesAttend and support planning meetingsMaintain user accounts and group assignmentsPerform and coordinate preventive maintenancePerform backup operations and archive managementProvide customer support including, but not limited to, systems administration for assigned servers, application support and hardware configurationImprove processes and methodsConsult/coach other team members QualificationsDesired QualificationsExperience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Solaris, and/or CentOSExperience with server hardware and Data Center operationsFamiliarity with SAN Storage, Fiber Channel, and storage architectureProficiency with IP networking, DNS, DHCPFamiliarity with X-windows, NFS, NetBackup, FlexLM, GIT, Subversion, VMwareStrong customer service skillsAbility to work independently and effectively in a small team environmentStrong customer service skills and ability to interact in a professional manner with customersAbility to function independently and work effectively in a small-team environmentExcellent troubleshooting skillsUS Citizen requiredTS/SCI Clearance highly desired
