Unix/Linux System Administrator Loc:Tampa, FL

  • We are seeking an intelligent and dynamic Unix/Linux system administrator to work in our Tampa office.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience and a bachelor\'s degree in computer science, electrical engineering or a similar technical or analytic field, from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is driven, works well independently and is comfortable with varying job responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and configure new and existing systems (both physical and virtual) primarily running RedHat Enterprise or a derivative.
  • Manage and maintain a large VM ware environment
  • Assist in the continuous development and improvement of infrastructure that facilitates automated management.
  • Experience with configuration management software Puppet desired.
  • Perform routine and exceptional operations such as data restores and backup validation.
  • Work with our customer support staff when client support tasks require advanced systems knowledge or changes.
  • Work on network and security related tasks as needed.
  • Rotating on-call responsibilities; this job will require that you carry your phone with you and be available if thereâ??s an off-hour problem that requires your intervention.

What We??re Looking For

  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a similar discipline.
  • Linux/Unix skills; you should possess a very confident level of knowledge of most topics related to Linux and have both references and paid experience to support this.
  • Analytic skills; it is required that you be able to think critically, adapt to unique situations quickly, and devise solutions to problems, both independently and as part of a team.
  • TCP/IP - you should know TCP/IP v4 reasonably well and be interested in learning IPv6, which we use in production.
  • Security - you should know the â??doâ??sâ? and â??donâ??tsâ? of security with regards to good system administration practices.
  • Script programming skills; you should be comfortable with programming scripts to automate system administration tasks; you should know PERL, PHP, Python, and/or one of the major shellâ??s scripting language.
  • Experience with VMWare a plus

Experience

  • We??re open to reviewing candidates with different levels of experience; minimally, we ??d like to see three years of professional system administration work.
  • Preferably, you??ve worked in a highly virtualized environment and understand how to align load demands with hardware resources.
