ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- All aspects of UNIX administration for multiple virtualized IBM
- Power systems running PowerVM and AIX 7.1, dual location and multi instance, with SAN-based replication
- Maintain system resources to ensure 100% system and database (Progress) availability during normal business hours includes extensive existing administrative shell scripts
- Implement, configure, administer and troubleshoot 3rd party applications
- Maintain custom legacy print/email/fax application written in PERL, lead project to replace with 3rd party application
- Troubleshoot and resolve UNIX and residing ERP application issues user setup/connectivity, database availability, printing/fax/email output, integration with non-UNIX systems and applications
- Configure, administer and troubleshoot UNIX data/server backups (NetBackup) and replication jobs (NetApp) via Windows-based tools
- Develop, implement, maintain and test Disaster Recovery strategies in support of above
DESIRED SKILLS: - Strong knowledge of AIX administration, multiple LPARs, PowerVM networking and storage
- Solid working knowledge of UNIX shell scripting (KSH preferred)
- Strong knowledge of server/data backup strategies and applications, NetBackup preferred
- Strong desire and willingness to expand into diverse Infrastructure responsibilities, including areas outside of UNIX
- Working knowledge of Disaster Recovery methods and technologies
- Understanding of SAN technologies, RAID architectures and SAN data replication
- Strong system troubleshooting and RCA (root cause analysis) problem determination skills
- Exceptional customer service orientation and commitment
- Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks while under pressure
- Demonstrated ability to achieve implementation and support goals with minimal supervision
