- Senior UNIX Systems Engineer Location:Dallas, TXThe UNIX Systems Management Team provides enterprise-wide systems support services for mission-critical Systems. JetPay maintains approximately 80 Unix servers located in two datacenters.
- The Unix Systems Management Team provides technical services to include systems design, planning, hardware/software installation, operations, maintenance, and upgrades to Unix systems and infrastructure components which support JetPaydaily operating business functions.
- The Unix Systems Management Teams primary focus areas:UNIX Systems Engineering: Technical services related to the system architectural design for Unix OS environment, enterprise wide system standards and operating policies.UNIX Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Technical services supporting backup and restore of data, business continuity methods and policies.
- system High Availability (HA), Disaster Recovery (DR), and Business Continuity Planning (BCP) strategy and testing.UNIX
- Technical services providing proactive monitoring of Unix systems environment and problem resolution, user support, system application support, operating system support, hardware/software system installation, configuration and maintenance.UNIX Systems Documentation.
- Procurement and Contract: Technical services supporting the procurement of cost effective and efficient Unix hardware/software systems, maintenance of support contracts and maintaining Unix environment documentation including standard operating procedures.
- Job Description:The Senior Unix Systems Engineer provides enterprise-wide Unix system infrastructure support for complex system and interconnected technologies that require day-to-day support and administration in order to maintain optimum performance and utilization.
- Provide support in the following areas: Sun Solaris 10 Systems Operational Support, Ubuntu operational support, Red Hat Linux operational support, server virtualization, and LDAP.1. Perform Unix Systems Administration2. Maintain UNIX infrastructure environment at JetPay datacenters during business hours and off-hours; troubleshoot networking services and protocols: TCP/IP, DNS, LDAP, Secure FTP, SSH, SNMP, and TLS.3. Install, configure, and maintain UNIX server equipment, disk arrays, tape libraries, virtual tape libraries and terminal servers; UNIX routine operation functions; maintain high end UNIX servers E25K and current and new UNIX projects.4. Provide data protection, recovery and business continuity; test and validate disaster recovery and business continuity methods in a Unix environment.5. Perform routine backup and recovery for data protection and integrity for Unix servers; monitor Unix infrastructure; provide proactive remediation.6. Perform proactive monitoring for high availability, system data protection, backup and restore, Unix central authentication, user account management, disk storage management, hardware and OS maintenance, and application maintenance.
- 1. Five to Ten years experience providing Unix/Sun Solaris systems administration support for a complex Unix environment.2. Unix/Sun Solaris 10 systems administration.3. Ubuntu and Red Hat systems administration4. Shell scripting experience.5. System level support for Oracle application and database Servers or other databases in a Unix environment.6. Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity in a Unix environment; HP storage array based SAN environment.7. Extensive knowledge and experience in supporting and troubleshooting Unix networking services and protocols: TCP/IP, DNS, LDAP, Secure FTP, SSH, SNMP, and SSL.8. UNIX environment with Oracle, Java application server and other large-scale databases.9. Unix virtualization technologies.10. The ability to keep up with updates in the Unix environment.Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work within strict deadlines and with a wide spectrum of people; Project Leader experience.
