Role: Oracle DBA Exadata Location: Lake Forest,IL Accountable for providing the architectural and engineering vision of Exadata. Accountable for the overall design and implementation of best practices. Responsible for providing Tier 4 / Engineering database support Accountable for the annual life-cycle of the products which includes maintenance, upgrades, break-fix, performance, and capacity management. Accountable for providing compute, storage, and network support for Exadata and ZFS hardware platforms. Accountable for leading our Oracle Exadata database and ZFS design & backups strategy. Accountable for the Disaster Recovery design of Exadata and ZFS platforms. Assists in budget planning for Exadata and Oracle database platforms Assists Data Administration and the business areas in designing accurate logical data models. Participates in quality assurance reviews when necessary with an emphasis on accessing data with efficiency. Works with project team to design quality physical database designs and implement accordingly. Assists in coordinating the implementation of systems and programs that use databases Creates database schemas according to database design. Generates test and production databases as necessary. Monitors database performance and implements changes necessary to maintain acceptable performance levels. Ensures the availability and recoverability of all databases. Develops and document processes and procedures for maintenance, backups and recoveries of production and test databases as required by the business Provide input and document Exadata, ZFS, and Database standards and procedures. Assist in the technical interviewing process with prospective candidates for future DMA/DBA positions. Provide database technical guidance to other areas as necessary. Provide 24-hour production Exadata platform and database support on a rotational basis. Maintains current physical database design documentation and other documentation for project development. Assists in the coding of SQL to ensure the efficient access to databases. Develops HW platform and database recovery strategies for onsite and off-site recoveries and participates in the testing of those strategies. JOB REQUIREMENTS Bachelorâ??s degree in Computer Science or equivalent related experience. Minimum of 7 â?? 10 years of Unix / Linux and / or Windows Application support including Oracle and / or SQL Server Administration or relevant experience. Familiarity with Exadata and ZFS infrastructures, including Data Security, Network, Computing, Storage, and Application Development. Knowledge of Linux (Suse or Redhat) and Windows Operating System fundamentals, system design, administration, and scripting languages. Knowledge of Storage, Network, and Backup fundamentals including design and administration. Ability to effectively communicate technical issues to software suppliers and to the business representatives. An understanding of production environments including the requirement for high availability and team oriented 24x7 support capabilities. Must have the ability to multi-task in a very fast-paced environment. Strong fault analysis/determination and problem solving skills and techniques. Ability to use Exadata and Database specific performance tools to analyze and tune system performance. Ability to lead complex implementations from design through execution. Capacity management with the ability to forecast future needs thru historical data and demand models Understanding of Object Oriented programming concepts and Relational Database Management systems (Oracle) is required. Excellent teamwork, communication (verbal and written) and documentation skills required. Ability to be a self-starter and to take initiative in critical situations Demonstrated ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision. Time management skills to balance priorities and deliver assignments on time and within budget.
