Job Title : Sr. SAP Systems Analyst – Development and Integration
Work Location : Portland, OR
 



SUMMARY: 

The company is aa medical device manufacturer, is currently looking for a Sr. SAP Systems Analyst – Development and PI to support and improve our SAP systems. This position is an essential part of our Shared Service Center (SSC) and newly created Center of Excellence (CoE) for SAP in North America. General duties include but are not limited to requirements gathering with business and functional SAP teams, solution design, definition of technical roadmaps and system strategies with other CoEs within Corporation, manage system upgrades, introduce new technologies, general ABAP development, custom transactions, System Enhancements, UI improvements (such as Web Dynpros and Portals), and SAP PI (7.31) interfaces with SAP and other systems.

GENERAL DUTIES: 

1. Process- and setup improvements: Provide new and updated solutions in order to optimize operations and support business goals. Provides business cases, concepts, solution design and estimates around interfaces and SAP development topics.
Align local requirements with corporate standards and solution, ensure fulfillment of local requirements in global templates. Manage system upgrades. 

2. Support daily operations: Manage all aspects of support for existing processes and systems with focus on technical area of SAP. This includes support of SAP systems and interfaces to manufacturing, sales, HR, finance and external facing customer and vendor systems. Ensure customer-, legal and internal specifications and requirements are met at all times. Act as go-to person for functional Application team for technical help, guidance on architectural, performance and UI questions. Monitor systems, help troubleshooting. Keep documentation up to date. 

3. Project- and change request implementation: Ensure high quality implementation of change- and project requests within budget and schedule in collaboration with the global SAP Development Team (in our HQ in Berlin), as well as local internal and external resources.
Provide hands-on expertise for development activities in SAP ECC and SAP PI. Work closely with functional Application team to understand business requirements and provide end-to-end solutions. Act as go-to person for system upgrades and test automation. 

4. Subject Matter Expert/Consulting: Help business units with UI and performance improvements, system enhancements, reporting and integration needs to internal and external parties. Develop standards and reusable templates to cut implementation efforts and drive standardization. Recommend best practices and ensure technical standards are met. Develop technical guidelines and roadmaps. Explore new technologies and present to decision makers.




JOB REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS 

 

Required: 

• 8+ years proven hands-on technical experience in SAP ABAP, ABAP OO
• 3+ years proven hands-on experience in SAP PI
• Very good analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to understand end-to-end SAP processes and integration between the modules SD, MM, PP, FI, CO, PM, QM and analyze data flow from system as well as user perspective
• Strong understanding of best practices for development, systems integration, SAP interfacing architecture, industry standards
• Strong understanding of software life cycle and system implementation methodologies (ASAP, Waterfall, Agile)
• Ability to communicate complex technical problems or solutions to senior management and relate to business process
• Ability to understand functional specs, write technical specs and work with functional team and/or business directly to achieve results 

Desired: 

• Knowledge of processes and standards in medical device industry (FDA, ISO, CGMP)
• Background in manufacturing, finance, supply chain and/or sales operations
• Proven project experience in leadership role, preferably global (project management experience is a big plus)
• Familiar with formal Software Validation and Verification process

TECHNICAL SKILLS 

Required:
• Ability to program in ABAP, ABAP OO and/or Java
• Proven implementation experience of SAP interfacing standards (ALE, IDOC, RFC, BAPI, Proxy Object) including setup of these in source / target systems and enhancements of standard formats
• Proven experience in WebDynpros (for ABAP), System enhancements (User-Exits, BADIs, Enhancement Spots), Dialog Programming, Workflow, Forms and interfaces
• Proven implementation experience of SAP PI functionalities such as BPE/BPM, Workflow, Alerting, Monitoring, Mapping
• Proven implementation experience of common interfacing standards (XML, SOAP/Web Services, CSV files, FTP(S)/SFTP, HTTP(S) POST/GET)
• Basic understanding of network and communication standards (IP stack, layers and ports, tracing, routing)
• Familiar with SAP organizational model and separation of local vs. global system instances as well as development best practices

Desired:
• Experience with EDI, EDIFACT, ANSI X.12, AS2, HL7
• Good knowledge of security and encryption standards and hands-on setup experience (SSL, PGP/GPG)
• Oracle DBA is a plus
• Implementation experience of Database accessing standards (ODBC, JDBC, SQL)
• Experience in Business Intelligence (SAP BI/BO)
• Experience in SAP Solution Manager
• Familiar with Mobile Technologies (e.g. SUP, HTML5)
