Budget $: 100,000 - 200,000

Platform support :

  • Support operation and maintenance of SAP ERP (currently using R3) and SAP BPC reporting.
  • Work with Finance professionals to resolve production issues encountered and/or provide technical guidance and functional training.
  • Understand finance processes not supported or partially supported by existing platforms and design tactical plans to execute improvements.

Monitor platform performance and enhance configuration to resolve functional user experience or lagging response times.

Data Base tools (currently developed with Delphi - a pascal derivative):

  • Maintain Delphi-based tools that are integrated with SAP and clients custom-built operations platform. Investigate and resolve production issues encountered. Enhance reporting or output of tools as requested by end users; analyze structure and function of existing tools and enhance to improve performance or functionality (interim usage only).
  • Interface management: Work with clients operations platform engineers to maintain and enhance the data integration between operations and Finance. Gain an understanding of the existing custom-built operations platform to identify and manage to cross dependencies.

Strategic IT ownership:

  • Drive Finance strategic IT plan, mobilization, and implementation.
  • Assess overall architecture, processes, and supporting technologies to proactively identify improvement opportunities and work with Finance resources to collaboratively design solutions.
  • Collaborate with the CIO and technology team to allocate resources to Finance projects as needed, manage costs, and manage initiatives and roadmap execution to plan. Raise critical issues with appropriate Finance and IT leadership.

Technology enhancement:

  • Work with Finance and IT resources to enhance utilization of SAP, BPC, and other tools, e.g., implementation of re-engineered processes or procedures within SAP, extended reporting capabilities in BPC.
  • Remain informed of Finance technology trends to proactive suggest IT enablement improvements.
  • Vendor assessment and implementation:
  • Work with external vendors through selection, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Manage external relationships, develop / review engagement contracts, and collaborate between internal and external resources to drive enhancements.
  • Support identification of external resource options and facilitate cross-functional assessment of skill and culture fit with the organization.
  • Continually review and assess vendor and support performance and make recommendations to leadership around preferred vendor and advisor support.
  • Technology project management: Work with the Finance project manager on all transformation initiatives that require technology changes.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in Finance technology, either within companies or as a technology consultant.
  • BA or BS in relevant subject area.
  • Extensive experience in financial systems maintenance, assessment, and improvement in the midmarket, ideally with private companies.
  • Demonstrated track record of assessing financial systems deficiencies, determining fit-for-purpose solutions that consider the right mix of formal solutions (e.g., SAP) and off-line technology (e.g., Access, Excel).
  • Knowledge of SAP, BPC. Knowledge of midmarket Accounts Payable vendors a nice-to-have.
  • Understanding of accounting, reporting, controls, and data and process flows; ideally have deeper experience with Accounts Payable processes and procedures in complex multi-currency, multi-entity environment.
  • Experience managing projects across workstreams and functions within a company.
  • Excels at hands-on, customer-orientated thinking and execution.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, problem solving, business judgment, and a collaborative approach with business users.
  • Ability to coordinate and clearly communicate between Finance and Technology professionals, within the organization and with external service providers.
