As the subject matter experts on Hadoop and other emerging data processing technologies, the Emerging Technology Architect will also be the “go to” technical subject matter expert for the Data Computing Division technical field organization. Key Job Functions:
Technology evangelism of the Pivotal “Big Data” stack: Greenplum Database, Pivotal’s Hadoop distributions and analytics stack.
Duties:
• Customer presentations, product demonstrations and consultation.
• Technical engagement with ecosystem partners.
• Presentations at conventions, user groups, and seminars.
• Assisting the sales teams with opportunity identification and closure with a major focus technical contribution.

Qualifications and Background Required:
B.S. in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering or Equivalent Experience

• Experience with Apache Hadoop: Hbase, Hive, Pig, HDFS, Avro, Zookeeper and other components of the Hadoop stack
• Understanding of the Apache Hadoop ecosystem, Hadoop use cases, competition, issues, and technology.
• Experience engaging with data scientists and data analysts to solve business problems with parallel processing technologies.
• Understanding of algorithms and statistical software packages such as “R” and SAS.
• Experience setting up and running Hadoop clusters and ability to create M/R jobs.
• Experience architecting large scale, distributed processing systems: compute, storage and network.
• Experience in consultative roles and customer engagement at a very technical level.
• Data warehousing and transactional database technology experience (Oracle, Postgres, Teradata, etc)
• Development experience with Java, C, Perl, Python.
• Experience with Linux (installing, troubleshooting, tuning)
• Knowledge of common ETL packages / libraries.
• Understanding of configuration management systems.
• Ability to grasp new technology with little or no formal training.


• Location- Bentonville, Arkansas
• Duration- Till year end with high probability of multi-year deal-can go contract to hire.

All work must be performed on-site at Wal-Mart and T&E will not be provided, so we will need local candidates or those willing to relocate.
