Position Summary: The primary purpose of this role is to coordinate and strategically lead engineering and mechanical departmentâ??s performance improvement across and within our manufacturing plants and contracting locations; while also supporting strategic initiatives at the enterprise level. The main processes managed by engineering are: Pre-production Process (Design for Manufacturability, Samples, Test cuts, Costing, etc) Standards Maintenance (SAH, SUW, SBQ and Thread Specs) Continuous Improvement (Lean Initiative and technical support) Quality improvements Cost Saving Projects Scenario Analysis for decision making Process Maintenance (Audits in Lean, STP and other internal processes that need to be maintained) Product Value Engineering Projects Mfg. Innovation, Research and Development Main Responsibilities: Plans and directs all aspects of engineering activities and ensures all engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with the organization\'s established policies and objectives. Review and develop/approve financial reporting of completed projects. Monitor departmental budget and approve expenditures. Keep the department well-staffed and performing at expected levels (or above). Lead and manage strategic/executive projects. Develops and grows engineering staff members. Develops High-Impact Innovation, Research and Development Projects for the Manufacturing/Contracting Organization. Leads and participates in the Cost Accounting â??Cost Rollâ? process to load standards into the system. Supports and helps lead the Continuous Improvement efforts of the Manufacturing team. Supports product and process quality at the factories via the support of engineering staff and projects. Travels to all manufacturing and contracting locations to provide on-site leadership to engineering team members and evaluate areas of opportunity for improvement. Actively participates in the Manufacturing operations â?? participating in decision making. Participates with Merchandising/Design and Technical Development in the product development process. Works with our cutting and purchasing teams to improve material utilization. Ensures proper use of GSDs for SAH rate setting. Provides support with pay structure systems at the factories. Lead the Mechanical Services department, providing direction, reviewing performance and working with department manager to make necessary improvements/changes. Desired Skills and Experience EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE Bachelor\'s of Science degree (B. S.) from four-year College or university preferably in Industrial Engineering. 10+ Years of experience in apparel or similar industry is mandatory! Managing and leading an engineering team. Knowledge, skills and abilities required: Ability to learn and apply lean concepts and principles within functional area are critical. Project Management/Kaizen Methodology Ability. Influence skills are critical. Listening skills are critical. Problem solving skills are critical. Both oral and written communications are very important. Leadership abilities are very important. GSD (General Sewing Data) Lean Certified preferred Bilingual (Spanish-English) TeamBuilding training MS Office literate (Word, Excel, Power Point)
