Role: SAP Basis Administrator Location: Houston, TX Essential Functions & Duties/Responsibilities Implement and maintain multiple SAP instances that comprise SAP environment (development, test, training and production, sandbox) Maintain the integrity of the SAP environment by managing the SAP Correction and Transport System (CTS) to ensure all configuration and development objects are promoted properly Design and implement an optimal SAP configuration to maximize system performance and availability. Install and configure all required SAP database servers/appliances and application servers/appliances. Manage SAP users, authorizations, and profiles Monitor all SAP systems (work processes, users, system logs, short dumps, locks, developer traces, system traces, disk space, etc.) Administer SAP database (plan and perform database upgrades, apply database maintenance, design and maintain physical database layout, perform database reorganizations, design and implement backup and restore strategy, maintain database security, administer database performance, manage database storage, hot packages, kernel upgrades, database problem determination and resolution) Participate in planning, implementation, and execution of SAP system upgrades Starting and stopping SAP instances, servers/appliances, user administration setup & maintenance, authorization/role/profiles setup & maintenance, setup SAP security, maintenance of systems health, monitor system performance and logs, spool and print administration, maintain system landscape, manage change requests, create/manage batch jobs, manage backup schedule, monitoring system processes, and buffers while managing database backup and recovery, database log management, database and system performance and tuning, systems and database space management, OS level background job management, OS level backup and recovery Perform evaluation and design of interfaces between SAP and external systems, maintenance of the SAP data dictionary and database objects, and manage the migration of SAP database and application configuration into production as well as analyze, develop, and maintain data architectures and process models within SAP Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Experience working with functional teams in the areas of Material Logistics, Plant Maintenance, Finance and Controlling areas working within complex global programs, preferably SAP ECC 6 on HANA Ability to interface and liaise with vendors, users, business partners, and consultants within a matrix environment Ability to handle challenges and risks, find solutions for mitigation within reasonable time and with desired results Experience of working in complex large commercial solutions within Oil and Gas industry Project organization skills & knowledge to lead and support SAP solutions and respective teams Interested in learning, taking initiatives, and additional challenges and responsibility Develops documents, reports, and presentations required to carry out job responsibilities
