ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES The responsibilities of the position center around three primary functions: Operations Finance. Partner with field team members (Sales Leads, Warehouse Managers, etc.) to understand the total operations in 5-6 warehouses (Sales, COGS, Margin, Operating Expenses, EBITDA and Working Capital). Partner with corporate resources in Operations and Accounting locally. Manage the monthly financial results and forecasts of an area of operations. Full P&L responsibility, understanding and communication is required. Business Analysis and Support. Gather the necessary financial and operating data to build comprehensive analyses which fully support a conclusion. Evaluate and quantify risks associated with the conclusion. Focus areas include: Results and forecasting analysis (current and trends); Business change analysis and support; Corporate data requests; and, Capital spending analysis and tracking. Business Process Improvement. Through the course of normal reporting cycles, observe and evaluate what data is used and how it is managed. Propose and implement more efficient processes to facilitate more time spent on analysis and less on data gathering. QUALIFICATIONS Interpersonal Skills. This position requires routine interaction with executive management and a national organization operating in multiple time zones. The willingness to initiate communication and follow through with requests / unresolved issues is critical to success. Flexibility and thriving in a multiple competing priority environment is essential. Customer Service. A clear understanding of the role played by the Corporate Finance team is essential. It is one of leadership, but also of service. A critical part of this role is to understand and communicate area performance in the field to the corporate resources, as well as to coach field operations on the need and output of the data and analytics. Financial Planning Tool Experience. The ideal candidate will have a robust understanding of an enterprise class planning application (e.g., Hyperion Essbase, Prophix, Adaptive Planning, etc.). Responsibilities will include report and model building in such an environment. Data Mining and Analysis. The ability to identify and collect financial and operating data from multiple ERP systems is essential. Details available and terminology at each warehouse vary slightly and communication between warehouses require thoughtful explanations and follow-ups. Must be an expert at collecting data and pressure testing for reasonableness. Finance and Accounting Knowledge. A general understanding of financial statements and general & cost accounting is required to support the needs of the business units and associated analyses. Superior Microsoft Excel abilities including template building, pivot tables, and spreadsheet automation (Visual Basic (VB) code experience is a strong plus). Providing Executive level summaries on each model is critical to success.
