Title: Teradata DBA Contract Length: 1 year Location: Southlake,TX Job Description Data Warehouse Operations Team has an exciting opportunity for an Operations DBA/ETL Administrator. The data warehouse is the golden source for all critical company data, including; booking, shopping, customer profile and financial data. This position will provide the candidate with the opportunity to work with the latest version of Teradata in an enterprise setting and lead a platform migration. Data warehousing experience with Teradata is a must. The candidate must demonstrate strong SQL programming skills and knowledge of BTEQ. UNIX shell programming and PERL programming skills as applicable to data movement and manipulation are also required as our ETL environment is highly reliant on these technologies. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Acts as primary support resource for daily ETL loads, troubleshoots, fixes, and owns delivery to service levels. Owns and resolves bugs related to data quality. Clearly documents standard operating procedures for production support function. Develops and maintains standard repository for technical metadata. Under general directions, designs, implements and maintains Teradata databases. Includes overall monitoring of standards and procedures, and integration of systems through database design. May include maintenance of database dictionaries. Competent to work at the highest level of all phases of database management. Converts logical design into a physical database. Creates schemas and sub schemas in consultation with application project teams necessary to implement database design. Develops transaction logging, back-up, and security features. Analyzes and changes performance of database as necessary. Monitoring data warehouse daily loads EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree or equivalent. ‘Must have’ skills: Min 5 to 8 years of experience as a Teradata DBA Experience tuning and optimizing Teradata SQL, or any other SQL (MySQL, PL/SQL, Transact SQL etc) Demonstrated hands on experience with Unix shell scripting and Perl Clearly demonstrates ability to develop standard operating procedures in a production environment. Experience developing in or supporting Informatica or equivalent ETL tools such as Ab nitio, Sunopsis, BO Data Integrator, or Ascential Experience with CA Autosys, BMC Control M, or other enterprise scheduling tools is highly desirable Experience with data cleanup and conversion efforts Understanding of Data Warehousing best practices Knowledge of database modeling and design in a data warehousing context
