Automation Engineering Technician Loc: Sunnyvale, CA

Budget $: 100,000 - 200,000

You will work alongside the automation engineers to build, power up, test, and troubleshoot custom automation equipment that are used for the production of diagnostic disposables. The successful candidate will be responsible for taking ownership of the tool through various phases and providing support during validation and launch.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the Mechanical assembly of complex automation equipment using fabricated and purchased parts as well as bill of material provided by engineering
  • Documentation of mechanical alterations and additions during the build and debug
  • Work with the automation and controls engineers to ensure proper machine functionality
  • Perform various non-repetitive mechanical assembly functions using hand or power tools
  • Build machines and sub-assemblies according to design requirements and specifications
  • Comply with the company safety procedures
  • Provide timely and detailed status updates
  • Quality - Ensure standards are maintained in a highly regulated environment
  • Provide support to manufacturing
  • Participate in continuous improvement discussions and provide ideas and feedback
  • Perform buy-off on outsourced tools

Required Knowledge - Skills - and Abilities:

  • High School graduate or equivalent combination of education and experience to perform at this level
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of direct related experience
  • Good mechanical and organizational skills
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical assembly and detailed drawings
  • Previous experience with machine assembly in automation industry
  • General machine shop skills including lathe, mill and saw
  • Competence with a wide variety of tools and measuring instruments
  • MS Office 2010 (Excel, Word, Outlook) and general computer literacy
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Must be a self-starter, team player, work well with others and have a positive attitude
  • Must be a creative thinker, results oriented, focused, and attentive to detail and accuracy
  • Must have ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Must be available and willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays to meet deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree
  • SolidWorks knowledge
  • Basic knowledge of electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
