We are looking for a talented AWS Platform Engineer to join our team building new web-based applications for our Federal Health IT client at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). This position provides opportunities to work with leading edge technologies building highly automated, containerized, cloud-based infrastructures. The candidate should have hands-on experience implementing production systems for government clients in Linux and AWS. The Platform Engineer will know how to implement networking, monitoring, scalability, and security requirements within AWS and Linux to support for federal compliance. The ideal candidate will have a background in implementing and delivering AWS cloud-based infrastructure, and container orchestration platforms to support the development and delivery of large-scale enterprise solutions. The ideal candidate will also be experienced with OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker, RHEL, and automated configuration using Ansible, Cloud Formation, and GitHub.

The Platform Engineer will be responsible for:
· Implementing automated Configuration Management and Infrastructure-As-Code using Ansible and CloudFormation
· Implementing security and networking policies, controls and tools
· Implementing required security controls in OpenShift, Docker containers, RHEL, and AWS
· Assisting with the implementation of monitoring tools and integrating them with OpenShift, application Docker containers, and AWS
· Implementing triggers and notification for infrastructure components based on performance and other runtime metrics
· Implementing logging and auditing requirements in AWS, OpenShift, application containers, and integration with Splunk
· Assisting with integration with CMS Shared Enterprise Services and other external systems
· Implementing auto scaling in AWS and OpenShift
· Assisting with implementing automated patch management and maintenance strategy
· Assisting with implementing automated backup and recovery process
· Performance tuning, and fixing other stability and performance issues
· Serve as a liaison to the sprint teams supporting development (including code deployment if needed)
· Troubleshooting and resolving issues that occur as part of development, installation, or maintenance activities
· Interface with the client
· Draft and/or review documentation for internal use and client deliverables

To be considered for this role, candidates must have:

· 3-5+ years of hands-on experience in the following:
· Implementation and delivery of Linux and AWS infrastructure for large enterprise government systems
· Automated Configuration with Ansible & Cloud Formation
· Implementing security requirements within AWS, RHEL, and Docker for government compliance
· Network Infrastructure experience
· Docker Containers and container orchestration platforms
· 1-2+ Experience with OpenShift
· Experience working and troubleshooting in a Production Environment is required. Must have experience in diagnosing and resolving network, performance, scalability, and other issues.
· Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
· Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
· AWS Certified Solutions Architect
· Ansible
Desired Experience:
· Working on a large team (50+)
· Working in an Agile DevOps environment
· Working with a Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) project
· Experience with the CMS expedited lifecycle (XLC)
· Experience supporting system modernization projects
· Experience coordinating work against schedules, and providing guidance and direction as required preferred
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and work well under pressure
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Detail oriented
· Experience with Kubernetes
· Working in a environment with multiple contractors that may include competing or conflicting priorities
· Ability to work interpedently or as part of a small focused team to research a solution and/or troubleshoot an issue

· All applicants shall have lived in the United States for at least three (3) out of the last five (5) years
· Must be able to pass a CMS-specific Public Trust background investigation
