Job description:
Establishes current and long range objectives, plans, and policies, subject to approval by the CEO.
Partners with the Chief Technology Officer and Engineering/Technology staff to foster one organizational approach for Engineering and Technology.
Directly supervises employees in an Engineering Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization\'s policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities:
- include interviewing, hiring, training and developing employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Develops or reviews Engineering budgets and resource allocation to ascertain project time frame and funding limitations, and to determine methods and procedures for accomplishment of programs and projects in accordance with allotment of funds to various phases of project.
- Responsible for strategic planning, budgets and control of project expenditures.Creates a technical vision and technology roadmap for the company and plans for implementation of new technical projects or product lines.
- Dispenses advice, guidance, direction, and authorization to carry out major plans and procedures, consistent with established policies and corporate approval.
- Performs detailed and continuing analysis of product offerings as compared to competition.
- Provides technical advice to assist in solving problems and continuous process and product improvement.
- Develops a climate within the department to foster a high level of employee motivation, performance, and commitment.
- Develops staffing plan and reviews work plan and schedules for each phase of a project in accordance with time limitations and funding.
- Works with other departments to ensure completion of programs on time and within budget.Represents organization with major customers and the public.
