Role:Business Analyst - Accounting Location:Houston, TX The Business Analyst formulates and defines systems scope and objectives through research and fact-finding combined with an understanding of applicable business systems and industry requirements. He or she must translate high level business requirements into functional specifications for the IT organization and manages changes to such specifications, while also serving as a liaison between the business community and the IT organization in Qualifications Role and Responsibilities: Conducts business process analyses, needs assessments, and preliminary cost/benefits analyses in order to align information technology solutions with business initiatives. Analyzes and evaluates existing and/or proposed systems Lead process configuration design activities, including constructing workflow charts and diagrams; studying system capabilities; writing specifications. Improves systems by studying current practices; designing modifications. Recommends controls by identifying problems; writing improved procedures. Understanding of Accounting and Finance functions at a high level. Willing to learn the details associated with complex accounting. Defines and monitors project progress by tracking activity; resolving problems; publishing progress reports; recommending actions. Maintains system protocols by writing and updating procedures. Provides references for users by writing and maintaining user documentation; providing help desk support; training users Collaborates with functional design and assist teams in providing IT solutions for business requirements. Provide ad-hoc reporting and analysis Provides information, guidance, and assistance to end users. All other duties as assigned Education and Experience: Bachelorâ??s degree in Information Technology, Business (any) or communications requires 2+ years experience in similar Business Analyst role required; consulting background desired Six Sigma Green Belt certification a plus Visio Flow Charts Understanding of Accounting, SOPs and general controls Extensive business knowledge and keeps current on industry trends Presentation skills and ability to communicate effectively with business leadership Ability to lead medium to large projects.
