Job Description

  • This Business Data Analyst provides analytic partnership to business users throughout organization by providing insights that help them make informed decisions about workforce and business initiatives.
  • This individual will assist in developing the approach and methodology for analysis, defining the variables to test/evaluate, identifying relevant data sources, and ultimately analyzing and drawing conclusions from the data.
  • The individual will use multiple data sources to find relevant relationships and turn them into actionable insights the business leaders can implement.
  • As a consultant to business partners, this individual will recommend ways to improve all facets of our business from Employee to Guest to check.
  • The position will require a creative, detail-oriented thought-starter who can manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identifies appropriate analytical tools and methods; uses advanced knowledge of business analysis to perform a range (basic to highly complex) of quantitative analyses and predictive modeling
  • Leverages tools and existing data (e.g., Workforce, Financial, Guest, Check) to develop robust quantitative models and analytical insights that support our business initiatives. Including but not limited to Loyalty, Pricing, and Human Resources.
  • Acts as internal consultant partnering with clients to identify research questions, establish hypothesis, determine metrics to be assessed, and interprets the results of analyses to drive insight; must be able to communicate and explain the results of more technical analyses to business partners in a digestible, visual fashion and recommend ways to further inform and evaluate success of an ongoing initiative.
  • Consults with brands on the impact of marketing and operational initiatives on our guest, overall profitability, and workforce.
  • Manage all phases of projects, including consulting with clients, developing research/project plans, data collection, analysis and presentation. Help to create an environment where well informed, fact-based decisions are made about our business.
  • Collaborate and coordinate analytic efforts with larger analyst community within Darden

REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in applied analytics.
  • Advanced analytical skills and experience such as root cause analysis, correlation analysis, test vs control analysis, demographic segmentation, benchmarking, etc.
  • Ability to extract, aggregate, normalize and mine data sets for analysis
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including data manipulation and statistic functions.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Access, PowerPoint and business intelligence tools
  • Strong business acumen
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or related field; Master's Preferred

OTHER KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with MicroStrategy, PeopleSoft or other enterprise HR data structures preferred
  • Financial analysis, strategy development or economics knowledge preferred
  • Tableau, JMP, SQL experience a plus
  • Six Sigma or experience in other problem solving methodology desirable
