Budget $: $140000 per year

is looking for talented database professionals with solid demonstrable

experience functioning in several senior Database Administration/Engineering (DBE) roles. First

and foremost, you will have solid experience leading Database Architecture efforts, to include

complex data modeling. With your Database Architect hat on, you will be responsible for

working with application development teams to perform the data modeling and design for

several initiatives charged with integration of two or more similar applications and data sources

into a single application and data store. Similarly, you may be required to drive delivery of

completely new data stores for new or significantly transformed business applications. In

addition to your functional focus as a Database Architect, you will also need to wear your

Performance Database Engineering hat, as you continuously seek to optimize the logical (SQL,

application schema, etc.) and physical (DBMS, OS, etc.) variables that impact the performance

of the enterprise class databases that you will be designing. Lastly, you will have solid

experience as System Database Engineer bringing together and applying the fundamental

system, storage, networking, security, and business continuity practices required to operate a

highly available, high performing, secure Database Management System (DBMS).

Education and Experience

• Required

o Undergraduate degree in Database Architecture/Engineering field or equivalent

professional experience/certifications.

o 10+ years’ experience working with Oracle and DB2 RDBMS or equivalent.

o 5+ experience working with Couchbase NoSQL database or equivalent.

o Solid understanding and ability to apply data integration methodologies.

o Solid experience applying ER/UML modeling techniques to come up with solid data

models.

o Solid experience normalizing data models/schemas.

o Solid experience translating logical data models into the physical models/schemas.

o Solid SQL tuning skills

o Solid continuous availability design, engineering, implementation, and operational

experience.

o Strong experience in reverse engineering methodologies

o 10+ years professional experience in infrastructure management

o Ability to manage the details and comply with product, company, and industry

standards and expectations.

o Excellent communication skills and problem solving ability

o Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others

o Oracle Real Application Cluster (RAC)

o Technical leadership experience in a multi-sourced environment

o Technical certifications (ITIL, Oracle Database Administration, IBM DB2 Administration,

etc.)

o Project management skills (Project Management Professional)

Core Work Activities

• Provides leadership, oversight, governance and strategic direction related to data

integration initiatives key to successful delivery of corporate integration requirements.

• Provides technical leadership, oversight, standardization and validation of the effectiveness

of the database systems.

• Conducts research and reviews the design and implementation of database components to

validate that they are standards based, high performing, highly available and secure in

delivering the required business functionality.

• Educates internal and external users of the technologies to continually improve the

knowledge and skill-base of the organization on how best to operate and support the

database services.

• Provides financial stewardship by ensuring that operational and application development

activities are implemented within financial guidelines prescribed through the services cost

and recovery financial model.

• Provides documents with a focus on how database services will be leveraged in the overall

solution architecture.

• Participates in the evaluation and selection of database services products.

• Works closely with enterprise architecture team to support alignment of plans with what is

delivered.

• Supports governance based on best practices and ensures alignment to projects and major

initiatives

• Leads analysis of the current environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommends

solutions for improvement.

• Leads analysis of technology industry and market trends to determine their potential impact

on the database architecture.

• Supports Solution and Domain Architecture by providing current environment status in

terms of technology, software and infrastructure for projects in the delivery life cycle

• Promotes the benefits of infrastructure services to the organization educate the team on

infrastructure concepts.

• Consults with project teams to identify when it is necessary to modify database services to

accommodate project needs.

• Consults with application and infrastructure teams to identify when it is necessary to modify

the database architecture to accommodate application or infrastructure needs.

• Oversees the documentation of all architecture design and analysis work.
