Job Description

Summary of Responsibility:

  • This position supports the Finance department and all locations with payroll processing, multi-state payroll and tax reporting, benefit administration, and process development to ensure accuracy in the payroll process and consistency in the organization.
  • The Payroll Manager is responsible for all payroll functions and some benefit administration.
  • The position requires accountability to both Finance and Human Resource departments.
  • The Payroll Manager has one direct report.
  • This position requires independent decision making skills and the ability to be a self starter.
  • She is required to utilize computer skills to drive world class processes to eliminate wastes and improve efficiencies.
  • She is required to have the skills to manage and record the payroll activities as well as administer and monitor parts of the benefit program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Creation and implementation of a world class payroll processes that drive financial performance with the elimination of wastes and accuracy of data.
  • Responsible for employee adds, deletions and changes to payroll system in compliance with Company and SOX procedures
  • Manage and control the electronic submission of payroll hours for all locations
  • Responsible for on-time reporting of payroll data in support of the financial close and supporting the KPI measurements
  • Support for location financial and HR teams related to payroll activities and benefits.
  • Ensures proper vacation and attendance tracking
  • Work with locations to ensure bonus, vacation, and month end payroll cutoff accruals are properly stated
  • Handling employee garnishments
  • Monitoring and Reconciling multiple balance sheet accounts related to payroll and benefits
  • Leader of the Sarbanes Oxley Payroll Compliance Process
  • Support for internal and external payroll and benefit audits
  • Prepares and submits internal and external reports when required
  • Become familiar with and ensure compliance with numerous local union contract compensation related programs
  • Assist with and create various payroll and headcount related analysis
  • Prepare and file various payroll related tax, union, and other miscellaneous returns
