Expert level proficiency in Java, including monitoring and instrumentation tools

Expert level knowledge of foundational Hadoop ecosystem technologies such as HDFS, HBase, YARN/MapReduce, and ZooKeeper

Working knowledge of Sqoop, Oozie, or Hue

Experience supporting wider stakeholder usage of Hive, Pig, or Phoenix

Deep understanding of architecture and concepts as described in the original MapReduce, Bigtable, Google File System (GFS), and Chubby papers

Complete comfort at a Unix commandline and Unix utilities, especially for text processing, parsing, and manipulation

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. This person will be expected to make recommendations and articulate tradeoffs to multiple stakeholder groups.

Experience with one or more of: bash, Ruby, Python, C/C++, R
