Job Type: Full Time only
Budget $: 100,000 - 200,000

  • Actively source, screen and evaluate Greenfield hydro opportunities in the Canadian market;
  • Complete the business review of opportunities while maintaining a hopper of projects for development.
  • This will include the analysis of the investment opportunity and risks; including regulatory issues, environmental and community support issues; and commercial risks including revenue certainty and financing;
  • Establish and sustain effective business development relationships with senior leaders in the communities in which we operate and with the environmental and regulatory agencies that manage small hydro development;
  • Understand the markets in which operates to both lead the development of assigned market opportunities and support the development of strategies and business plans that lead to development of market opportunities;
  • Attend and represent on related association functions and events to network, build and maintain relationships with Aboriginal leadership, Canadian Hydropower Association and other industries;
  • Assist with the management of relationships with Aboriginal communities, joint venture partners, equipment suppliers, landowners, municipalities, and other stakeholders;
  • Work with multi-disciplinary and cross functional teams to evaluate development/investment opportunities and advance the overall project to a commercial close and Board sanction;

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor??s degree Business, Finance, Engineering, Environmental Science or other relevant field.
  • 5-7 years of power industry experience with a strong and proven background as a project developer or project manager in the area of renewable energy project experience.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of commodity markets, engineering principles and project finance and of the technical and/or commercial aspects of the power industry.
  • Strong business development, project management, technical, financial and commercial negotiation skills, and ability to advance a project within a corporate setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
