Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Assist Sr. Manager of BI and Integrations with the planning, implementation and support of an adaptive, secure, and robust enterprise infrastructure.
  • Provide supervision to DBA team members; including project task delegation, tracking and follow-through on quarterly and annual goals, annual performance reviews, coordination of technical training.
  • Ensure all DBAs conform to best practices in performance tuning and troubleshooting, backups and recovery, system monitoring, and capacity planning using a variety of vendor supplied and third party tools, as well as internally written utilities for highly available enterprise class database systems.
  • Supervise individual and team workload to deliver agreed upon project milestones.
  • Provide database backup and recovery solutions in line with corporate backup and retention, and disaster recovery policies, as well as relate and maintain documentation covering all aspects of the database environment, including physical layout, inventory of hosted database infrastructure assets, processes and procedures, operational policies, etc.
  • Provide feedback and coaching of individual performance as well as promote teamwork and resolve interpersonal issues.Maintain accurate data system inventory and database relationship schema.Write, maintain and enforce all data-related procedures and protocols, based on ASPEN needs and best practices.
  • Ensure data compliance with legal regulations.Ensure data security and redundancy.
  • Manage efforts to establish and maintain consistent data element definitions across computing environments.
  • Work with analysts and software developers to complete data mapping exercises and integrate in-house systems
  • Work with architects to develop a data architecture and data integration strategy to integrate a variety of large scale applications and vendor products.
  • Understand flows between disparate source / target systems, and participate in the development and maintenance of data architecture
  • Perform a variety of data analysis and modeling tasks with limited supervisionProvide functional advice, training, and advanced data related support to project teams both during the planning and in-flight stages of their projectsEnsure industry standard security practices are implemented and kept up to date.
Skills and ExperienceRequires

  • Excellent problem solving, communication, and customer service skills as well as the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
  • Previous direct people management experience (3+ team members)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience working with vendors and integrating external applications
  • Result driven mindset and ability to communicate and develop solid working relationships with people at all management levels
  • Strong experience in logical and physical data modeling in OLTP and OLAP environmentsAble to recognize and identify patterns in data relationships from disparate systems
  • Strong database fundamentals and data modeling knowledgeStrong experience performing data modeling studies and develops detailed data models
  • Strong experience in transforming logical models to physical modelsGood understanding of understanding of ODS, data warehouse, data mart, and data cube, and database technologies
  • Previous experience in gathering requirements for reporting solutions and data analysisStrong analytical and problem solving skills
