Independently diagnoses and solves very complex technical problems quickly.

Performs data analysis and modifies or recommends changes in the database to facilitate BI reporting applications. 

Helps business partner end users understand best practices for working with WebFOCUS in our environment. 

Provides technical expertise necessary to meet project and business requirements as well as production and maintenance in support of assigned project/application areas.

Enforces documentation standards that support our evolving Application Development process.

Documents new and existing systems, develops workflows, and creates other supporting documents in adherence to all departmental and corporate standards.  Provides a clear record of activities taken on specific program or system projects.

Obtains approvals and consult with production control as needed to prepare programs/systems for implementation; corresponds with clients to implement operations programs/enhancements and identify/resolve problems.

Communicates both orally and in writing with team members and others regarding status of work, program changes and specifications, project schedules, or other areas of mutual concern.

Reviews completed code, documentation and other deliverables to ensure that they meet specifications and requirements based on defined expectations.

A minimum of 5 years IT experience with 3 years of experience in a Business Intelligence (BI) reporting development capacity required.

Demonstrates significant experience with and knowledge of WebFOCUS, InfoAssist, and general knowledge of other BI application software development platforms and tools.

Experience integrating WebFOCUS applications into existing web applications such as Microsoft .NET, SharePoint and Java.

Demonstrates working knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) for creating and interfacing WebFOCUS reports in a self-service environment.

An understanding of Web Services and affiliated technologies, such as SOAP and REST.

An understanding of the diverse modern formats and transformation technologies, such as XML, XSD and XSLT.

Demonstrates familiarity with and use of tools and concepts used in data warehouse / business intelligence environments such as Master Data Management (MDM), data architecture, ETL, data quality and cleansing tools, query/reporting tools, OLAP, data mining, etc.

Demonstrates experience in one or more systems development life cycle (SDLC) methodologies, including those that support agile / iterative development.

Demonstrates knowledge of project/system management methodologies.

Demonstrates experience and knowledge of data structure and database concepts and practices.

Ability to handle multiple projects and competing priorities.

Clear and effective writer and documenter.

Demonstrates excellent verbal and written skills; ability to communicate with individuals at all levels.

Ability to develop and maintain effective and collaborative relationships across all levels of the organization.

Functions effectively in a team oriented atmosphere.

Insurance or financial services industry experience is a plus.

Breadth of insurance or financial services applications experience is a plus.
