Job description
SUMMARY OF POSITION
  • The SAP ABAP/EDI Specialist will work with customers and internal business units to support the development, testing, and on-going support of the Gentran Server for Windows EDI system.
  • The successful candidate will also work with business users to gather custom ABAP report requirements, SAPScript and Smart Form requirements, and custom interface and data conversion requirements.
  • The candidate will use extensive knowledge of ABAP, IDOCs, BAPIs, SAP Script and Smart Form, user-exits, and other technical areas of SAP to design, develop, and test custom SAP solutions worldwide within Alvogen.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary responsibilities of this role include the following:
  • Work with business users to gather customer ABAP report requirements, SAP Script and Smart Form requirements, and custom interface and data conversion requirements.
  • Development areas include all FRICE (forms, reports, interfaces, conversions, and enhancements) objects within all areas of SAP.
  • Work extensively with ABAP, ALV, object-oriented SAP programming, IDOCs, module pool programming, BAPIs, RFCs, user-exits, BADIs, and Enhancement Spots.
  • Work as part of the Global SAP team and serve as expert in the area of SAP ABAP development world-wide.
  • Interview world-wide business personnel to understand pain areas and provide insight and process improvements.
  • Areas of focus will include but are not limited to FI/CO, SD, MM, QA, and PM.
  • Maintain day-to-day operations of the Gentran Server for Windows system as well as work with customers, vendors, and other external partners to implement new EDI transaction sets.
  • The qualified individual will perform all necessary setup in Gentran, the AS2 system, and SAP to support the automated flow of data into and out of the SAP system.
  • The ABAP/EDI Specialist will configure custom IDOCs and SAP processing programs to support the end-to-end data flow to/from SAP and external partners.
  • Provide support during audits by producing reports using SAP standard functionality, custom reports, and the SAP BOBJ reporting tool.
  • Identify potential audit concerns and develop custom reports and new business processes to proactively address issues.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 4+ Years SAP ABAP Development ExperiencePrior Pharmaceutical Manufacturing ExperienceExtensive experience with SAP requirements gathering, technical design, custom development, and testing.
  • FRICE (forms, reports, interface, conversion, and enhancement) development experience in SAP ECC 6.0. 3+ Years Gentran Server for Windows development and maintenance experience.
  • Experience working with external partners to develop new EDI maps using Gentran Application Integration.
  • SAP IDOC configuration and custom development as well as creating SAP processing programs for inbound and outbound IDOCs.
  • Extensive experience developing ABAP, ALV, object-oriented SAP programming, IDOCs, module pool programming, BAPIs, RFCs, user-exits, BADI, and Enhancement Spots.
  • BS Degree Excellent communication skills are a must Familiar with ABAP development in multiple areas of SAP including SD, FI/CO, and MM.
  • Ability to work with end users to gather requirements, develop designs, implement custom ABAP solutions, and work with users to test GMP
DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITY
  • This position is not GMP relevant and does not have GMP Decision making authority.
Desired Skills and Experience
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
  • BS/BA in Business or Supply Chain or work related experience.
  • Experience: 5+ years of business or work related experience, preferably in a Pharmaceutical Procurement role.
  • The individual must have experience with SAP/MRP or equivalent and have experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Individual must take ownership and demonstrate flexibility by being able to lead people and processes, work independently or in a team environment, prioritize responsibilities and manage multiple tasks.
  • This position requires working effectively with others and good communication skills (both verbal and written), in order to support internal purchasing requests and work effectively with external suppliers to negotiate best price and ensure accurate and on-time deliveries.
  • The individual must have experience negotiating.
  • An individual with a Purchasing Certification is preferred.
