Based on the recent production issue and the relative lack of experienced Greenplum resources, DTCC has requested Pivotal's assistance in offering a Healthcheck of the Greenplum environments.
These efforts will be broken into 2 parallel tracks:
Track 1 Environment / Operations Track:
Assess the Greenplum environments from an operational perspective;
• Determine if the DCAs are setup and configured properly
• Are the environments being monitored to offer sufficient notice of impending issues that can pro-actively be resolved before a production failure?
• Determine the extent to which and assist DTCC in implementing and/or tuning process throttling & governance to help ensure that queries / jobs / applications do not cause production failures
• Review the existing Operational Readiness plan for supporting the production environments, provide best practices and related recommendations. In the event DTCC does not have such a plan, work with DTCC resources to define and create an Operational Readiness plan. In either case, work together with DTCC resources to review and validate the plan, refining where necessary to match DTCC’s environment as well as incorporating known best-practices for operationalization of a Greenplum environment
Provide mentoring towards Production level practices needed to support live Production operations and Disaster Recovery-capable production environments.
