Role: PostgreSQL Database Administrator
Location: Leesburg, VA
Responsibilities

• Help our growing infrastructure separate the needs of OLTP from the needs of OLAPRefine existing Disaster Recovery and Fail-over strategies to diminish potential of downtime or data lossAssist the PhishMe Engineering Team to ensure that new functionality does not introduce performance or data integrity issuesMaintain baseline database security in accordance with the company\'s high standardsEnsure that production processes are performant: tune database settings, improve key queries, redesign data structures, and setup new server configurations when necessary
  

Desired Skills and Experience

• Successful applicants must demonstrate:Solid, enterprise PostgreSQL administration experience
  
• Experience designing and implementing database server architectures in coordination with multiple engineering teams
• Experience designing and implementing database pipelines to drive ETL, warehousing, and OLAPA self-starter willing to dive deep into our current infrastructure and work out pragmatic improvements to maintain our service level while improving design
  
• The ability to work effectively and be pragmatic as part of a remote team in a dynamic business environmentFluency in writing and optimizing SQL queriesAdditional experience that would be preferable:Enterprise experience administering MySQL or Amazon RDS database solutionsMigrating production solutions between different database systemsFamiliarity with RDBMS alternatives, such as those discussed in Seven Databases in Seven WeeksElasticSearch experienceA four-year degree in something (anything)Working with and supporting Rails applicationsProficiency in one or more high-level programming languages such as Ruby or PythonCompensation
