POSITION REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics or other directly related program required
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an Accounting or Finance departmentUnderstanding of financial statements and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)Railroad experience preferred
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
  • Strong database experience is required. Experience with Cognos TM1 preferred.
  • Strong computer skills MS Office suite, SAP FI/CO experience preferredStrong verbal and written communication skills, Bi-lingual preferredSolid organizational and project management skills to meet deadline-oriented tasks
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Strong analytical skillsAbility to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organizationAbility to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manualsAbility to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
JOB DUTIES:
  • Supports gathering and coordinating data for client Maintenance of Way functions to input into budgeting and forecasting models.
  • Responsible for implementing and improving the annual budgeting and rolling forecast process and meeting timelines.
  • Conduct detailed analysis for budget and forecast variances to actual results.
  • Supports month-end close processes related to MOW functions including departmental expenses review, accruals, forecast to actual variance analysis and account reconciliations.
  • Supports other ad hoc reporting, analysis and special projects as necessary.Identify process improvement opportunities and recommend solutions.
