Senior Manager, Master Data Management Location: Northbrook, IL

The Senior Manager, Master Data Management ensures consistency of strategic shared information to improve data quality, accessibility, and security of master data within the commercial organization. Will act as primary liaison between Comm Ops and IS in translating business needs. Essential Job Responsibilities: * In collaboration with stakeholders, create, maintain and enforce master data management policies, processes and procedures. * Ensure resources are available for data management activities. * Collaborate with business units to identify and acquire new data sources. * Lead and manage external relationships with vendors, consultants and commercial partners in efforts to create data standards and business rules, creating and maintaining consistent reference data and master data definitions. * Lead the development and implementation of architecture for data processing and optimization of all data flows. * Manage the process by which we secure data privacy, particularly with highly sensitive, anonymous patient transactional data. * Manage and create efficiencies for Cycle Operations process. * Manage roster and alignment implementations. * Manage critical data elements. Ensure consensus in identifying data elements associated with common business terminology, researching sources, definitions, and managing them within the master repository as the enterprise source of truth. * Publish relevant data to appropriate users in the organization, and monitor the published data sources for usage, relevance and quality. * Collaborate with Legal and Compliance to ensure published data meets all applicable legal and compliance requirements. * Create and manage business metadata for published data sources to ensure that it is easily discoverable, and meaningful to data users. * Maintain the integrity, quality and completeness of master data with responsibility for collecting, evaluating and appropriately resolving issues and problems with data; prioritize and communicate issues to impacted individuals. * Collaborate with IT to ensure data and data elements are appropriately utilized in procedures and systems. * Ensure data documentation is developed and maintained. * Be active advocate of data management. Endorse good data management practices, use them, and share them. Quantitative Dimensions: * Achievement of Sales & Marketing goals. * Annual department operating budget Organizational Context: This position requires close collaboration with Data Governance, Marketing, Sales, Finance, Health Systems, Incentive Compensation, Strategic Business Planning, Business Support, Commercial Technology, IT, Marketing Sciences, and Strategic New Product Planning. This position may have direct supervisory responsibility of up to 3 people. Qualifications: Required: * Bachelor\'s degree in Business or Information Systems related field required. * Minimum of 8 years of experience in IT or technical related role. * Possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of employees including senior management. * Working knowledge of sales data sources, i.e., Symphony Health Solutions, IMS Health, Enclarity, etc. * Extensive experience with data modeling. * Working knowledge of various database applications (Oracle, SAS, Microsoft Access). * Working knowledge of pharma industry legal and compliance restrictions as they relate to the handling and publishing of data sources, i.e., HIPAA, AMA PDRP, etc. * Working knowledge of document management software tools. * Extensive computer proficiency with desktop software in a Windows environment required: Microsoft Word; Microsoft Excel (VBA); Microsoft Power Point. * Excellent skills in the following areas: organization, written and verbal communication, accuracy and personal initiative. * Ability to work independently in a dynamic fast paced environment, with minimal supervision. * Excellent organizational, planning and project management skills with a strong attention to detail and ability to effectively manage cross-functional projects. * Demonstrated ability in taking initiative to proactively evaluate existing strategies and recommend changes, when appropriate. Preferred: * Working knowledge of one or more programming techniques such as SQL, SAS or VB is a plus. * MBA preferably in business or the sciences. * Minimum 3 years of experience within the pharmaceutical industry.
