The qualified candidate will act as a Senior Application Developer in the Information Management - BI Analytics Department.

Designs, develops and deploys Business Intelligence solutions of well-defined, moderate to complex business problems with a high level of reliability, execution and speed using Business Intelligence tools such as COGNOS, Microsoft BI and SQL Server Technologies. Plays key role in development and implementation of robust and reliable Business Intelligence reporting solutions. 

All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.  

• Coordinates with business unit representatives to define and evaluate reporting needs, to interpret business specifications.
• Perform analysis and design to implement well defined reporting solutions using IBM Cognos 10.X BI and Microsoft SQL Server.
• Develop, Deploy and maintain
  • Framework models and packages using IBM Cognos 10.X including DMR Models
  • Reports using Report Studio, Query Studio and Event Studio
  • Dashboards and apply data visualization best practices
  • Cognos Workspace and Active reports
  • Cognos Dynamic Cubes  
• Define and follow Cognos development best practices including subject matter expertise in IBM Cognos 10.X  solution architecture
• Define and Manage report security, folder security, database row level security, report scheduling and distribution
• Work Closely with the ETL team and BI Admin team
• Plans and provides Business Intelligence solutions to achieve desired end-results on complex business problems under the direction of the Team Leader or the Application Manager (May be responsible for projects that span more than one system).
• Assists manager in developing estimates for project costing
• Develops system implementation schedules and coordinates testing and debugging for programming changes with other teams and Operational Systems
• Independently performs problem determination and resolution in the production environment and provides production support as needed both during and after normal business hours.
• Provides inputs to BI architect as required and identify Business Intelligence technology trends to explore opportunities for use within the organization
• Gain an extensive working knowledge of business data and user functions, and willingness to share knowledge and mentor others. Prepare routine project status reports and updates manager and Business teams on the progress.

• College degree in Computer Science, Management Information Science, Business Administration or related field preferred.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in application development using  IBM COGNOS 
  • Building Framework Manager Models              
  • Developing Report Studio, Query Studio, Event Studio using IBM Cognos 10.x
  • Extensive experience building  scorecards, dashboards and Active reports using IBM Cognos 10.x
  • Experience in Transformer cubes desirable
  • Experience with Cognos 10.2 Dynamic Cubes  
• At least five years of experience working on Relational Database systems (Microsoft SQL Server) and ability to write complex queries 
• Experience in other BI tools – Microsoft BI (SSIS, SSRS and SSAS) or TM1 is desirable
• Understanding of Data Warehouse concepts and strong Database schema design knowledge- star and snowflake and multidimensional
• Experience in all phases of Software Development Life Cycle - familiarity with Agile software development methodologies is a plus
• Ability to effectively work well with people in other departments and/or outside of the enterprise.
• Possesses excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
• Possesses experience leading and coordinating team in an onsite/offshore model.
• Results oriented and displays attention to detail when required
• Possesses strong data integration and problem solving skills.
• Exhibits effective negotiating skills and be able to work effectively with business stakeholders and technical stakeholders.
• Successfully accomplished (but not limited to) the duties listed in the preceding level.
• Project management and/ or experience in the Property/Casualty Insurance Industry desirable
