Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Information Technology or Biomedical Engineering required
  • Knowledge of the operation and prior hands-on experience in the maintenance and repair of wide variety of medical equipment and systems
  • Recognized Computer Networking/IT Certification Required (such as CompTIA A+ and Networking +)
  • Knowledgeable of the communications protocols used in the healthcare information systems, such as DICOM and HL7
  • Qualified candidates must be able to perform the essential functions of this position satisfactorily with or without a reasonable accommodation

Responsibilities

SUMMARY:

  • The Medical Device Integration and Cybersecurity Specialist will be responsible for supporting Clients overall cybersecurity initiatives and Medical Device Integration (MDI)
  • Utilizing cybersecurity framework, technologies and policies and procedures, the Medical Device Integration and Cybersecurity Specialist will be involved in response to cybersecurity alerts, ensuring Client KPI's are met, perform audits and risk assessments of medical devices, entail responding to trouble calls, identifying fault conditions and remediating if capable or contacting and teaming with Clinical Informatics and Information Management resources to resolve issues
  • Utilize downtime plans, logistics, and training to support the operational data workflows of the production environment
  • Monitors and responds to Clients medical device asset and cybersecurity management platform findings and mitigating steps
  • Ensure work orders are completed within defined KPI's and assist on site if needed for successful completion
  • Collaborate and work with Clients to respond and coordinate mitigating steps and compensating controls on contracted medical devices that may arise from Asimily
  • Assist with GAP analysis by physically identifying devices and verifying the IT parameters to correlate with Asimily
  • Apply patches, software updates and device in mitigations as assigned
  • Assures compliance with all regulatory standards including patient safety and all relative criteria governing the safe and appropriate use, testing and management of medical devices
  • Participate in Client meetings and committees as it applies to medical device security
  • Collaborates on biomedical device integration requirements with clinical users, Clinical Informatics and Information Management staff
  • Designs biomedical device integration solutions
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software to ensure data connections
  • Serves as a reference source for biomedical engineering and clinical staff with regards to appropriate procedures for the integration of clinical equipment to the information system
  • Ensures all existing and future medical devices comply with medical device security requirements to ensure protection of PHI
  • Maintain an orderly and functional work environment
  • Provide emergency on-call responsibilities as needed
  • Collaborate with fellow technical personnel in department meetings to ensure they are kept abreast of technical updates and/or device related problems
