Prior Candidate Feedback:

• Lack of depth on performance tuning: Candidates could not provide specific scenarios where they addressed performance issues in Snowflake or Power BI
• Weak scenario-based responses: Unable to elaborate on real-life challenges and solutions when pressed
• Limited proactiveness: Missing the proactive, solution-oriented approach demonstrated by working across teams on templates and custom export solutions.
• Insufficient Power BI expertise: Could not answer detailed questions on DAX optimization, semantic modeling, or migration strategy from OS to Power BI

Role Clarification:

• Primary focus: Power BI developer with strong reporting lens
• Secondary requirement: Understanding of data modeling and Snowflake as the sole data source to optimize performance
• Key responsibilities: Migrate reports from OS to Power BI, build semantic models, optimize DAX functions, and determine best placement of calculations (Power BI vs. database)
• Differentiator: Proactive problem-solving, working with COE teams, and building reusable templates

Must Have Skills:

• Extensive experience in handling and processing large datasets (terabyte scale) daily.
• Strong proficiency in Power BI Development, Snowflake-specific SQL, query optimization, and performance tuning.
• Expertise in data modeling techniques and optimizing storage and compute costs in Snowflake.
• Proficient in scripting languages such as Python for automation.
• Experience in integrating Snowflake with BI tools like Power BI
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS) and their data services.
